  Participatory monitoring of prs and pro-poor expenditure in selected districts and areas of arusha region, tanzania: Tanzania has developed a range of anti-poverty initiatives to guide poverty reduction efforts including the Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper (PRSP). The Poverty Monitoring Master Plan encourages multi-sectoral stakeholders to give feedback on the PRSP, to determine if poverty reduction strategies and activities are improving the welfare of poor people.

The proportion of people living on less than USD a day has remained at about 50 of the total population for the last decade. Overall economic growth has been steady since 2002, matching population growth, at about 3 and is expected to increase to around 5 in 2004. Better-managed, peaceful countries have grown faster and some are making progress in reducing poverty.
